    Neighborhood description

Trastevere: Trastevere is characterized by its abundance of social piazzas, tiny medieval alleys and Romanesque houses that help to maintain a local and nostalgic atmosphere in the neighborhood. The district’s greatest attraction is its vibrant atmosphere; the crooked streets filled with traditional shops and a wide variety of restaurants are peaceful during the day yet transform itself into a destination for those seeking authentic Roman nightlife in the evening. It also has one of the most romantic sites of Rome, located in the Gianicolo Park, accessible via steep stairs up to Rome’s highest hill where you can enjoy a panoramic view of the entire city. Trastevere residents consider themselves the true heirs of the Romans and refer to themselves as Trasteverini, showing the deep pride felt by those who live in this part of the city. Some consider Trastevere to be the second-smallest nation after the Vatican City. With fewer tourists than other parts of the city, Trastevere is ideal for those who truly want to integrate into the Italian culture. There are no metro stops here, but one can find various buses and trams that lead to the center. If you find yourself in this area, you will be a short walking distance to Campo di Fiori, which is made up almost entirely of narrow picturesque streets, old shops and bakeries, and hidden squares and doorways. With its buzzing streets by day and its lively nightlife, it will be hard to leave after spending just one day in this beautiful part of Rome.
